4 cylinder,”O” series engine

Rover 2000 4 cilinder engine

The 2-liter 4-cylinder engine in the "O" series which was introduced for the first Rover  models in 1982 is placed in the base model. THE engine has already demonstrated its  value in other model series and has built an excellent reputation for reliability and easy  maintenance. Another important advantage of the motor O is the inherently low fuel  consumption, and for this reason, this engine is then also placed in the Rover models. In order to the performance associated with maintaining Rover, is the latest development  of the "O" series engine with two carburators. Among the many outstanding features of  the "O" series motor, there are three special which contribute to the high performance,  low fuel consumption and a great technical reffinement.

Singel overhead camshaft.

The single overhead camshaft provides several important advantages such as quieter  running engine and greater reliability because there is less moving parts.

Toothed camshaftbelt and electical fan.

The toothed belt is been made of a rubber non-streched cord which replace the  conventional chain. This ensures a more quiet running engine, is easier in production and  the belt can be streched with a pressure roller.   An electrical cooling fan is added to the engine which helps to save fuel and is only  activated when the engine need it.

Engine specifications:

The 2000 engine has a capacity of 100 Bhp at 5250 t/min  which is more than enough voor de Rover. The maximum  torque of 163 Nm is already reached at 3250 r/min. In  combination with the 5 speed manual gearbox it result in  great results with high flexibility and excellent  performance.  Cilinder bore   :    1994cc  Cilinders  :     4  Bore :   84,5  Stroke     89,0  Compression ratio :1  :   9,0  Carburetors  :   2 x SU HIF44  Maximum power :     74 kW at 5250 t/min  Maximum torque :   163 Nm at 3250 rpm
